going geo

June 6th, 2010

Today we present a new way to find interesting events around you. Toostis Map View!

And did you know that you can find events on some particular day by clicking on day’s title in timeline? We find the combination of timeline and map view really convenient.

And that’s not all. As a result of our collaboration with geogoer.com every event now includes a button that helps you find other people that are travelling somewhere near that event by car, flying carpet etc. Cooperate and find new friends!

This is a very early release. You can consider it alpha, if you like. We’re going to improve it a lot and now we’re waiting for your suggestions and ideas.

It already works and it’s really easy to use! So go geo!

we love you too

This weekend we participated in StartupJam Baltics. Bright innovators mainly from the Baltic region (I also met some guys from U.S.) gathered to share their experience and success stories. Three day event was a mix of BarCamps, discussions, pitches and partying. Toostis had a short pitch presentation after which we won the community startup prize! Thank you! We love you too! :)

P.S. Greetings to Justas from manodrabuziai.lt for being chosen as the best startup of the year!

toostis goes to mini seedcamp

May 26th, 2010

We’re very excited to announce that toostis is one of the top 20 teams that were chosen to participate in Mini Seedcamp Copenhagen! We see it as a great opportunity to present our ideas and get some valuable advice from top experts.

Yay!

what’s the buzz

April 2nd, 2010

Wow! It’s been almost a month since last blog post. During that time there have been a lot of exciting improvements in toostis that we want to share with you now.

Search without login. Probably most important thing is that now you can search for public events without logging in. Just go to toostis.com. You don’t even need to create an account.

Convenient invitations. We have desinged a new invitation window where you can find friends by names. Also, you can search in your Google mail contacts without revealing us your password.

Convenient invitations

Geo distance search. Find events within 100km around your city. Just type something like “Helsinki 100km” and pick what you like. User interface for this feature is in our near future plans.

Share plans. For you, Facebook addicts, we have created a feature for sharing your plans. After you click the button “I will participate” a box pops up and you can post your plans on your wall with just one click. We also plan Twitter and similar integrations in future.

Répondez s’il vous plaît. It will be much easier to organize events when you want to know exact number of participants. You can enable RSVP feature when creating an event. Your guests can make their decision in invitation emails or in event’s page.

RSVP Invitation

Embeddable widget. You can now share your plans with the world by including customizable toostis widget into your blog or other site. It comes in two flavours: javascript and image. Normally you would want to use javascript version since it has more features. But, for example, wordpress.com does not allow javascripts. This is where image widget comes to rescue. See them in http://toostis.com/widget/tune.

Go ahead. Try it :)

let’s start

Toostis is a tool that helps you organize and find events and does that by using internet as a medium. We’re different from others because we do it in a clean and concise way. Our vision is not a better tool – it is a better and more open society. To make this vision a reality we create tools, organize our own events and talk to people.

During the last few years we’ve observed a growth of internet usage accompanied with growth of its misuse. On one hand internet is a great tool for communication (most of you would probably agree that it is better than a phone – you can also make phone calls with it), but on the other hand it strives to be a replacement for our perception of reality. This is closely related to laziness being one of the most universal properties of human beings. But we dare to challenge this, because what you do is not necessarily what you *want* to do.

In this blog we want to share our ideas, write about some interesting events we’ve organized or found and of course we will constantly provide news about toostis.com itself. So, let’s begin the story…
